The Victorian Government is helping households by offering rebates to upgrade gas, electric and wood heaters with energy efficient reverse-cycle air conditioners.
Rebates are available to low income and vulnerable households to help access energy efficient heating and cooling by reducing the upfront cost of purchasing energy efficient reverse-cycle air conditioners.
Reverse-cycle air conditioners are energy efficient and keep homes warm in winter and cool in summer.
The Program offers a base rebate of $1,000 provided towards the cost of purchasing and installing a high-efficiency heating and cooling system*. A limit of one rebate per household applies.
Households can receive an additional $200 if they need to cap their old gas heater. An additional $500 for households who need to upgrade their switchboard.
The Home Heating & Cooling Upgrades Program is also available for rental properties and community housing that meet the criteria.
